6 FREE Photography Marketing Ideas for May

Spring has officially sprung! With May comes warmer weather, beautiful blooms, and all sorts of other reasons to celebrate. Springtime also signals plenty of opportunities to capture soft light and gorgeous colors -- without making your photography clients freeze as they pose in front of the camera!

If you’re a photographer looking to take on more clients in May, now is the perfect time to make an extra push in marketing your business. Here are a few extra special holidays you can emphasize in your marketing to creatively use this gorgeous season to your advantage!

1. National Pet Photography Week.  People absolutely adore their pets, but not everyone may have professional photos of them yet. During National Pet Photography Week this May 3-9, offer a special on pet photoshoots -- for dogs, cats, rabbits, birds, or any other furry, feathered, or even scaly friends. If you’re not all that experienced shooting animal portraits, simply market your family portrait photography or couples sessions and encourage potential clients to invite their pet to come along, too. 2. National Dog Rescue Day
   This year, National Dog Rescue Day falls on May 20th. Work with a local shelter to photograph their dogs. It’s a win-win situation for everyone involved -- photography work and exposure for you, high-quality marketing materials for the shelter, and a better chance of finding a loving home for those sweet pups.    Offer the gift of timeless memories this Mother’s Day, May 12th. Run a special on mommy and me sessions to celebrate motherhood, or advertise photoshoots for the entire family as a present for mom. 2. Military Spouse Appreciation Day
   Show some love and appreciation for all the dedicated military spouses out there this May 10th.
